How to Make Aloe Vera Water

Aloe vera’s use dates back nearly 5,000 years to early Egyptian times. It has since been used both topically and orally.

Health benefits of aloe vera gel:

  • Boosts immune function
  • Powerful anti-inflammatory
  • Great for skin health
  • Accelerates recovery after exercise
  • Potent antioxidant
  • Reduces high blood pressure
  • Alleviates joint and muscle pain
  • Boosts physical endurance

Directions:

Start by removing an aloe leaf from the plant near the base using a sharp knife.

Use your knife to split the leaf down the center lengthwise.

Transfer the aloe gel to a container. You can use a spoon to scoop the aloe from the leaf. Be sure to only use clear gel and not the yellow pulp. Place gel into a blend-able container. Yield approximately 2 tbsp. of aloe gel before moving on.aloe-vera-water

Mix the aloe gel with one cup of water and 2 tbsp. of lemon juice. Blend all ingredients for about two minutes or until completely mixed.

If the taste of pure aloe water is too bitter for your pallet, try mixing aloe vera gel into your next smoothie or protein shake.

Caution: Pregnant women and diabetics should not take aloe vera orally.

Can Aloe gel be purchased at health food stores rather than damage my aloe plant? I use it only for burns, milking the gel will eliminate my plant too quickly.

Hi Ken, The gel itself does not look to be available for purchase by itself. You also do not want to purchase the gel meant for external use to make this home recipe. There are many brands of pre-made aloe vera waters you can buy.

Hi Cris, Due to the lack of knowledge surrounding the effects of aloe vera on diabetic and pregnant women, it is not recommended for their consumption.
