Contrary to popular belief, detoxification doesn’t have to be a chore. It’s not like cleaning the garage or behind the fridge. A gentle, total-body detox can be like having your own luxury spa right at home – you can run an Epsom salt bath, light some beeswax candles, and drink a delicious green vegetable smoothie. When people learn just how easy detox and cleansing can be with the right foods, lifestyle practices and targeted supplements, it becomes a revolutionary way to revitalize long term health.

There are a number of whole, natural foods that help cleanse and remove toxins from deep within. On the other hand, processed ingredients, caffeine, alcohol and trans-fats can increase toxic body burden, so it’s critical to eliminate these items. By emphasizing detoxifying, nutrient-dense foods, we help clear the way for optimal health throughout the year.

Clean Eating

Beets are especially good detoxifiers and are full of B vitamins and minerals, including zinc, which is important for the immune system. They are also full of fiber to help cleanse the digestive tract. Even better, beets support the liver, one of the body’s primary filters for toxins.

Turmeric is a bright yellow root commonly used as a spice in traditional Indian cooking. It is also a staple in Ayurvedic herbalism. Turmeric — and curcumin, its main active ingredient — are shown to detoxify the body, support digestion, increase antioxidant activity and supercharge immunity, among other benefits.

Sea vegetables like nori, dulse, arame and kelp are also excellent for supporting detoxification and overall health. Sea vegetables are rich in vitamins and minerals and contain compounds that support the removal of toxins. They also support healthy blood sugar and immunity.

Cultured and fermented vegetables like sauerkraut and kimchee are great sources of probiotics, enzymes and nutrients that support detoxification, digestion and overall health.

Many culinary mushrooms are rich in antioxidants and compounds that help detoxify the body and “train” immune cells to function optimally. Shitake, oyster and maitake are excellent examples that can be included in soups, sautés and other savory dishes.

Lemon
helps the body remove toxins and is also an excellent tonic for both the liver and gall bladder. Try a daily dose of an olive oil and lemon mixture during your cleanse:

lemon

Blend an organic lemon, cut into pieces, with 1¼ cups spring water and a tablespoon of olive oil. Partially strain, leaving some pulp. The pectin from the lemon peel also helps the digestive tract. Drink before bed. In addition to supporting detoxification, many people report that this drink helps improve their sleep.

A daily dose of fresh green vegetables helps cleanse the digestive tract and blood stream. With high levels of fiber, flax seeds are ideal to help remove toxins from the digestive tract. Garlic is also a potent detoxifier, in addition to providing immune support. Broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables get metabolized into a compound called DIM, which supports immunity, modulates estrogen metabolism and aids detoxification.

It’s also helpful to supplement with herbs and botanicals that actively detoxify the body, support vital energy and antioxidant activity, and help reduce “detox reactions” during a cleanse.

EcoNugenics Toxin Removal System contains a 3 month supply of both PectaClear® and ecoDetox. Together, these two supplements help remove heavy metals such as lead, mercury and arsenic as well as other toxins, without affecting essential minerals. Together with detoxifying foods and regular exercise, these research-based nutraceuticals gently yet thoroughly reduce toxic body burden over time.

Even though the body has its own mechanisms to remove toxins, it can be hard to keep up with the load. A gentle, seasonal cleanse is an excellent way to support our natural detoxification processes and maintain optimal health.

Celebrate the renewal of life and energy this spring by taking steps to increase your vitality. Whether it’s for three days, three weeks, or longer, a gentle and nourishing spring cleanse can help you reach a greater level of health and wellness, naturally.

I have taken Pectasol off and on for several years. I took the Detox complete and had a very bad reaction – intense burning all over my body. I was bedridden. I have to admit that I had run out of Pectasol and so I took the Detox without the pectasol. Could that have been the problem. I have very high levels of lead, mercury and cadmium.

Also, what is the difference in Pectasol C and Pecta clear?

Is it okay to take the Pectaclear close to other supplements or thyroid meds? I find it hard to find 2 times a day to take it on an empty stomach and not close to other things.

I want to get serious about getting rid of the heavy metals. Any advice would be appreciated. I seem to have problems with some of the things in the Detox Complete. Andy Cutler says some people cannot take some of the algeas or alpha lipoic acid when they are metal toxic.

    Thank you for your questions.

PestaSol-C is pure modified citrus pectin. PectaClear is a combination of modified citrus pectin and alginates. The alginates do not get absorbed and bind to toxins in the gut for removal – while the citrus pectin component gets absorbed and binds to toxins in the circulation.

Detox Complete is a more complex product with multiple ingredients. It has the effect of pulling toxins from tissues and then the modified citrus pectin onboard will bind to the released toxins so they do not get redistributed. So, in thinking of your severe reaction, it could be a number of things. It could be that you reacted to one of the ingredients in Detox Complete, it could be that the accelerated detoxification was more than your system could handle, it could be that without the PectaSol C to bind to the released toxins, they overloaded your system.

Given your sensitivities, you surely need to undertake this under the guidance of an experienced health care professional. It seems appropriate for you to stick with the Pectasol-C, and perhaps add in some Pectaclear as well to keep your GI system clear of incoming toxins. Additional detox support should be undertaken very carefully and with single ingredients at very low doses under the guidance of your provider.
We advise taking these two products at least 1/2 hour before taking any medications. There is the possibility, although not tested, if other medications binding to the modified citrus pectin and /or alginates.

Thank you for your question. If you have never done any detoxification, and especially in the presence of a health condition, we recommend that you undertake a supervised detoxification with your health care provider or other knowledgeable health professional. We also recommend starting with a very simple program, primarily by changing your diet by removing foods, such as gluten-containing foods, processed sugar containing foods, dairy, animal proteins, and greatly increasing leafy greens, vegetables, and fluids. Adding lemon to your water. Pectaclear would be a good supplement to add to this regimen. If you would like more specifics on food choices etc. you will find lots of information at http://www.dreliaz.org. Keep good track of your blood pressure during your cleanse.

So detoxification is not a sure fit for a person with hypertension. It just depends on the person’s reaction to that cleansing diet. I was thinking of starting my mom with this cleansing juice/smoothie diet. It’s a good thing you pointed out to still keep track of the blood pressure during the cleanse just to avoid complications.
