A Few Tips to Help You Achieve Healthy Detoxification

Approximately 10% of adults in the U.S. follow a vegetarian-inclined diet. Whether it’s a statement against animal cruelty or an effort to maintain a healthier lifestyle is up to the person who follows it. But another big reason for people to follow a vegetarian diet is healthy detoxification.

There are countless detox supplements and metabolic health products out there that claim to help cleanse the body of toxins — from juice cleanses to heavy metal detox supplements — but the truth is that some of these products just aren’t good for you.

Here are a few elements of a healthy detoxification program that actually will do more good than harm.

Sleep
It might seem like a ridiculous tip, but sleep is just as cleansing for the mind as it is for the body. When you sleep, your body begins to naturally heal itself as your immune system kicks into overdrive. Not only that, but when we sleep, the flow of cerebrospinal fluid increases in the brain, washing away any harmful waste from dead cells or the proteins between cells that build up during the day.

Get Your Exercise On
Exercise releases endorphins, which make you feel great mentally and physically. But exercise also helps naturally improve the body’s detoxification process by increasing blood circulation and metabolism. If you take supplements to boost metabolism, exercise can strengthen their effects and help you get stronger in the process.

Stop Sugar Intake
Sugar hides in some strange places. Granola bars and flavored yogurt are some of the top culprits of sugar hiding in “healthy” foods. But there are good sugars, too! Fruit is full of sugar, but it’s also full of important vitamins and nutrients for your body. If you can limit the amount of refined sugar you eat and increase the fruits and veggies, you’re on the right track.

Take it Slow
You’re not going to notice changes overnight. Changing your body takes time, dedication, and a lot of planning. A fitness planner, or any plain old planner, can help you stay on track and even help you feel more accomplished as the tasks get ticked off!

The most important takeaway here is that there’s no quick and easy way to detox. But don’t give up! You can accomplish anything you set your mind and body to.
